The Joy of Living in a Small City

I was very touched when my undergraduate university posted a tarpaulin in the city in honor of my graduating from my MBA. I guess this is one of the perks of coming from a small city. They are proud of you and want to recognize the achievements you have made in your life. Life in small towns and cities are much more personal than living in the BIG CITY. I used to know everyone in my hometown. I have been living in the same apartment in Manila for more than 5 years now and I still do not know any of my neighbors except one. The jeepney drivers in my hometown wait for a passenger to be fully seated and stable on the seat before moving forward, the jeepney drivers in Manila roar ahead even though you haven't even found a seat yet. The people in my hometown smile and greet you when they pass you by, the people in Manila jostle you and scowl or sometimes even snipe invectives at you when you pass them by. For all its worth, I don't think I will exchange my hometown upbringing for a big city upbringing.
